Most importantly, before you start your Top Spin 4 match, focus on your players skill set and relax. If you are not relaxed, you will more than likely make a lot of unforced errors. It doesn’t matter if you are good or not, if you forget to concentrate and focus on your skill-set and relax when you play, you will struggle throughout your match and possibly lose.
If your pro or custom player has “Top Spin Invasion” and “Monster Defense” you need to think about these skills the entire match. Your skill-set is probably the most important aspect of your player, that is if you want to get the most out of your player. You may think the most important part of your player is how much you have on power, speed or serve, but it is your skill-set, don’t ever forget that. I’ve seen players with 40 and 50 on forehand and backhand clean up pretty well just because they know how to use their skill-set and timing.
As long as you don’t lose focus on your player’s skill set you will have a much better chance of winning the match.
Just like real tennis, hit the ball deep, don’t give your opponent time to run in on a short ball because of bad timing or left stick placement. In other words, push the left stick forward as early as possible to get the deepest shot.
